I sometimes get the feeling no one reads this anymore. But to those who do, an apology:

The last 4 months have been good. My meets have been getting more popular and bigger, with the last one breaking another attendance record with 17 people! But as good as things have been going, there's also been a bit of drama regarding my meets and I feel I'm solely to blame.

It's come to my attention that my meets have earned a certain reputation -- one that I never intended to have, but through my actions, and the actions of certain attendees, I've managed to obtain.

My meet is not a drug meet. The other CT Furs -- theirs are of this variety. Mine, however, while categorized as such as of late, is not. Again, it was never my intent to have them labeled as such, but unfortunately they have been.

My original design for the meets was to base them off Cubbi's meets, but geared toward a 21+ age group. Essentially following the equation:
$jayMeet = $cubbiMeet + alcohol('optional');
They started out as such. But somehow my own bad habits were integrated into the meet and it became something else. The fact that I continued to attract larger populations is irrelevant.

This brings me to my apology. I do hereby apologize to any fur or group of furs who, after coming to my meet, no longer wants to come, or have anything to do with me for that matter. I apologize for inviting you to a meet where you felt uncomfortable; a place you didn't want to be. I'm sorry for causing drama amongst attendees; drama stemming from the aforementioned issues fueling the bad reputation.

While it has been stated that "It's your meet, you can do what you want.", what I've done, what I've wanted to do, and in general what I've wanted from the meets, are all separate yet interconnected.

What I wanted most of all is to provide a meet for regional furs similar to that of Cubbi's meets. What I've wanted to do was make my meets all-inclusive. I wanted to surround myself with friends, and what I've done in the process is turn away many furs who at one time or another were really enthusiastic about my meets.

I've explained the situation, and I've offered an apology. And now it's time to talk action. What's I'm going to do to change things around. Starting with my mimimeet this Thursday for New Year's Eve, and every official Monthly Meet in 2010 and beyond, these meets will be drug free. While alcohol will still be an option for responsible attendees, excessive drinking will no longer be a part of the meet.

I want to get my meets back to the original concept. I want to rid them of the bad reputation they've acquired. And I want to attempt to make amends with anyfur who had issues with how things were run. I want to make these meets a fun time for everyone. And I don't want to make anyone feel like they don't belong, nor do I want to create an environment where people are not comfortable.

These meets had such huge potential and I feel like I've pissed away that potential. I want it back. I want you back. In 2010 and beyond, let's work to make this the best CT meet. Lets make this special. This is after all your meet. I just host it.

4) ECFM March Meet - Friday March 19 at 7pm to Saturday March 20 at ???

If there is anyone reading this that is proficient at creating web layouts in Photoshop, or creating Web 2.0 logos, please read the following carefully and get back to me as soon as possible.

What I need:

1) One Web layout (with three sections), preferably in Photoshop format.

2) Two Logo designs, preferably in Photoshop format or Illustrator vector format.


The Problem: I've been assigned to create two websites, one in Wordpress and one in Drupal, so prove my skill using these two platforms. I've got a review on August 5 and I need to have these two sites ready to demo to my boss. If I don't complete them, I get fired.


Project Descriptions:

1) WEB LAYOUT

The web layout(s) will be for the Drupal site. If you've never designed a web layout for a CMS before, don't worry about it. What I need is at least 3 layouts for the pages on the site. The first layout should be the home page. The second will be an inner content page (like an about us page or something similar). The third a contact page, with a form for users to submit their info.

The site I'm working is a travel blog. The site will have information about various destinations and such. The site will also be somewhat furry in the sense that the majority of the articles will probably be about traveling to cons, etc (just because I need to fill with content fast, and I might as well write about something i know!)

If you've read this far and aren't sure of your design skills, please contact me and lets try to determine if you're a good fit for this. If you don't think so, you can still help with writing articles for the site. The site does not have a name yet. See below for info about naming it.

2) WEB LOGOS

I need two logos created. The first will be for the site above. Since I've not decided on a name yet for the site, this will be more difficult. See info below for naming this site.

The second logo will be for a non-profit organization that my mom is doing. The name of this site is Hooked on a Dream. My mom creates pillows and wall hangings using Latch Hook, then sells them to raise money for the Children's Cancer Centers at Connecticut Children's Hospitals. The logo she's looking for is the name of her organization. The original "logo" she used was a piece of clipart with a green field, a sunny day with a few clouds and a rainbow. Her only request is that the rainbow and her organization's name be incorporated into the logo.

Or perhaps DJ Andi Starlight. Andi Starlight, of course, being the name of my tiger fursona. This actually sounds better. Perhaps it will stick.

I mixed my first set today and it sucked. Then again, I was trying to mix an iPod Touch with iTunes on my computer. Couldn't really get the beats mixed right, and everyone song had a different BPM. A difficult task for even the most experienced DJs.

The next step is going to be getting some CD players. A mini step I can take before then is to open up my favorite tracks, find their BPM and using Audacity, make them all the same BPM (and the same volume!!!). I know its cheating, but it's a good strategy for noob DJs, like me. I'll burn those tracks to CD-Rs, and then I'll load up those CDs and mix away!

I'll need to find a way to record the mix if for some reason I deem my computer incapable.

I could have made a tracklist for this initial set, but didn't.

I'm truly sorry guys. After Anthrocon and Furfright are over, I think I should leave the fandom for awhile. Probably be for the best.

I talked with this record guy who heard some of my music and wanted to meet with me to discuss signing with his company.
The day of the meeting, I slept in and then went to the meeting. The meeting was at a bar and it was myself, the guy, and another guy, telling me how much they love what I'm doing and how they want to make me famous. Pete walked through that bar, told me he needed to speak with me. So after the meeting, I went outside and somehow I found myself on a softball field. Today was the day of the DS Softball Game and I guess because I missed it, I got fired. So I talk to Pete and he starts crying, telling me how great I am and how much he hates having to fire me, how much I will be missed, etc. So without a job anymore, I ended up moving up to New Hampshire and became Tamara's butler. The end.

If dreams like this are the result of smoking too much hookah, then I'm going to need to smoke more often.

Also, I'm behind on my updating of this journal. I want to post the events of the past two weekends, so someone remind me to do this after work please.
